Terms of Service

MGR is operated by MGR Rentals Pvt Ltd, a company registered in the Republic of Maldives (“MGR”, “we”, “us”). MGR runs a platform that connects people who want to rent gear (“renters”) with people who own gear and want to rent it out (“owners”). We are a marketplace, not the owner of the gear listed, and we do not operate any dive school, charter or tour.

The gear itself is owned, described and handed over by individual owners. The rental contract for any item is between the renter and that owner. MGR facilitates discovery, booking, bank-slip payment verification, deposits, messaging and support.

• You must be at least 18 years old to book or list gear on MGR.
• You must give accurate account details and keep them up to date. Owners and renters may be asked to complete ID verification before transacting.
• You are responsible for everything that happens under your account. Keep your password private, and tell us immediately if you suspect unauthorised use.
• One person, one account. We may suspend duplicate or impersonating accounts.

When you book an item you agree to the daily rate, the rental dates (pickup and return), the refundable security deposit, any delivery fee, and the owner’s cancellation policy as shown at checkout. Some listings are instant book; others are request to book and need the owner to accept first.

A booking is only confirmed once your bank slip has been verified by our team and the owner has accepted (for request listings). Until then, your dates are held but not guaranteed. See our Payment Verification page for exactly what a valid slip looks like and how long review takes.

MGR uses bank-transfer payments verified by slip. You transfer the rental amount plus the refundable deposit (and any delivery fee) to the MGR destination account shown at checkout, then upload a clear photo or PDF of your transfer slip.

• The amount you transfer must match the rental total — including the deposit — exactly.
• Your slip must show a visible reference code and the correct destination account.
• We hold the rental funds and release the owner's share as a payout after pickup, less MGR's service commission.
• The deposit is held separately and refunded after the return inspection, as set out in our Deposits & Refunds policy.

Submitting a forged, duplicated or altered slip is fraud. It will get your booking rejected, your account suspended, and may be reported to the relevant bank and authorities.

Renters pay a small service fee shown transparently at checkout. Owners pay a platform commission of 2% of the rental subtotal (the deposit is never commissioned). These fees keep verification, support, dispute handling and the platform running.

• Listings are pickup, delivery, or both. The method you chose at checkout applies.
• Inspect the gear at handover. Photograph any existing wear and note its condition with the owner so there are no surprises at return.
• Return the gear on the agreed date, in the condition you received it, allowing for fair everyday wear.
• Late returns may incur extra daily charges and can delay your deposit refund.

• Use the gear safely, lawfully and only as intended. Dive gear is for certified divers; jet skis and motorised gear must be used within Maldivian regulations.
• You are responsible for loss, theft or damage beyond fair wear while the gear is in your care.
• Do not sub-let, resell or take rented gear out of the Maldives.
• Follow the owner's rental rules and local island and reef-protection rules at all times.

Owners must accurately describe their gear, keep availability current, hand over items in safe and working condition, and honour confirmed bookings. The full set of owner obligations lives in the Owner Agreement, which forms part of these terms for anyone who lists gear.

• Paying or being paid outside MGR to avoid fees, verification or deposit protection.
• Posting false, misleading or stolen listings, photos or reviews.
• Harassing, threatening or discriminating against any other user.
• Uploading fraudulent bank slips or attempting to reuse a slip across bookings.
• Anything illegal under the laws of the Republic of Maldives.

If a renter and owner disagree about condition, damage or a deposit deduction, either side can open a dispute from the rental page. MGR reviews the handover and return evidence (photos, messages, slips) and makes a reasonable decision. Our deposit and refund process is described in the Deposits & Refunds policy.

MGR provides the marketplace “as is”. We verify owners and payments and act in good faith, but we are not a party to the rental contract and do not guarantee the condition, safety or performance of any item. Water sports and diving carry inherent risk; you take part at your own risk and should hold appropriate insurance and certification. To the extent permitted by law, MGR’s liability is limited to the service fees we received on the booking in question.

We may suspend or close any account that breaks these terms, attempts fraud, or puts other users at risk. You can close your own account at any time once any open rentals, payouts or deposits are settled.

We may update these terms from time to time; the “last updated” date above always reflects the current version, and material changes will be notified in-app. These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Maldives, and the courts of Malé have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute.
