Owner Agreement

If you list gear on MGR, this agreement applies to you on top of our Terms of Service. It sets out what we expect from owners, how payouts and commission work, and how the deposit system protects your gear.

01Listing your gear honestly

  • Describe each item accurately — brand, condition, what's included and any quirks or existing wear.
  • Use your own clear, recent photos of the actual gear, not stock images.
  • Set a fair daily rate, a sensible refundable deposit, your minimum and maximum rental days, and whether you offer pickup, delivery or both.
  • Keep availability up to date. If you can't honour a confirmed booking, that counts against your standing on MGR.

02Verification

Every owner completes ID verification before listing. We may also ask for proof of ownership or condition for high-value gear such as drones, cameras and full dive kits. This keeps the marketplace trustworthy and protects honest owners from imposters.

03Accepting bookings

You choose how bookings come in: instant book (confirmed automatically once the renter’s slip is verified) or request to book (you accept or decline first). Either way, a booking is only live once MGR has verified the renter’s bank slip. Don’t hand over gear before you see the confirmed booking in your dashboard.

04Handover & condition

  • Hand over gear in safe, clean, working order, with everything listed as included.
  • Record the condition at handover with the renter — photos of any existing marks protect you both.
  • For technical gear, give a quick safety and usage briefing where appropriate.

05How payouts work

Renters pay MGR by bank transfer and upload a slip; we verify it before the booking is confirmed. After the renter has collected the gear, we release your payout to your nominated BML or MIB account.

  • Your payout is the rental subtotal minus MGR's commission. The refundable deposit is never part of your payout.
  • Payouts are sent to the bank account you set in your owner settings — keep these details accurate.
  • Payouts are processed after pickup is confirmed and typically arrive within a few business days.

06Commission

MGR charges a platform commission of 2% of the rental subtotal. There is no commission on the deposit or on the delivery fee you set. The commission covers payment verification, deposit handling, support and dispute resolution.

07How deposits protect you

Every booking carries a refundable security deposit that MGR holds for the whole rental. If the gear comes back damaged, lost or with missing items, you can raise a claim within the 48-hour return-inspection window and recover the reasonable cost — up to the deposit amount — with photo evidence.

  • Inspect returned gear and confirm it's fine, or raise a claim within 48 hours of return.
  • Back every claim with clear photos and a description; vague or unevidenced claims will be declined.
  • Only genuine damage beyond fair wear, loss, or missing inclusions are recoverable — not normal use.

08Your responsibilities

  • Only list gear you own and are legally allowed to rent out in the Maldives.
  • Keep your gear safe, maintained and compliant with any applicable regulations (especially for motorised and diving equipment).
  • Communicate promptly and respectfully with renters through MGR messaging.
  • Never take payment outside MGR — doing so removes deposit protection and breaches this agreement.

09Taxes

You are responsible for declaring and paying any taxes due on your rental income under Maldivian law. MGR provides your payout and earnings records to help, but we do not give tax advice.

10Suspension & removal

We may pause or remove listings — or suspend an owner account — for misdescribed gear, unsafe equipment, repeated cancellations, off-platform payment, fraudulent claims, or any breach of our Terms. Honest, reliable owners are the heart of MGR, and these rules exist to protect them.
